Silver Award, Hospitality, IIDA/Mid-Atlantic, 2004

An existing two-building brick structure was reconfigured to create a cohesive restaurant / bar / lounge. The historic façade was maintained, but deteriorating interior areas were gutted to open the space, creating more the dramatic space to stage the concept. Culturally inspired dining ‘tents’ and intimate spaces partitioned by natural materials and furnishings reflect a comfortable yet intriguing setting. Finally, an elegant communal restroom complete with basket weave texture walls, old wooden barrel and copper vessel sinks and individual glass-tiled water closets round out the exotic and inspired settings of the establishment.
